The 9D Surveys
The Nine Domains Approachsm includes four original surveys. Each is an assessment of the health and functioning of a team relative to the Nine Domains. Each survey is a unique approach to understanding the current conditions of a group or organization.
The TOLATsm (Team & Organization Level Assessment Tool)
Measuring the Level of Functioning of a Team
The TOLATsm is the basic diagnostic test of the Nine Domains Approachsm. It combines the five Levels of Functioning with the nine Domains of a whole system. The result is that it is able to survey a team or organization’s degree of health evenly and non-redundantly. The TOLATsm requires people to respond to challenging statements about the team and organization to which they belong—these statements represent issues that are often avoided. Ironically, the avoidance of these issues prevents teams from changing and growing.
Individuals respond to 45 statements using a 5-point Likert frequency scale. The balanced nature of the statements that make up the TOLATsm thus acts as a foundation for working with group dynamics. This core test generates a wealth of data for Leadership, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Change Management, and for anyone who needs to have a clear picture of the how well their group or organization is functioning.
The TOLATsm is available on-line and can be used by an individual or by a team (under the guidance of a trained 9D Facilitator). An individual can take the TOLATsm while reflecting on their personal perspective of a team’s Level of Functioning. An individual can also take it by reflecting on themselves which would reveal their own individual Level of Functioning.
When the TOLATsm is administered to an entire team or organization by a trained 9D Facilitator, the electronic analysis not only reveals the team's Level of Functioning as a whole, it also provides the Facilitator with a wealth of extensive analytic and interpretative materials and graphs. The precision that is possible with the facilitated TOLATsm becomes the foundation for extremely useful insights which can lead to long-lasting, meaningful change.
The 9DATsm (The Nine Domains Assessment Tool)
Measuring the Full Constellation of Workplace Potential
The 9DATsm measures how the organization is fulfilling the full spectrum of its own potential. By focusing exclusively on the high-functioning range of each Domain, it provides a clear way of measuring current team functioning against a comprehensive ideal of team functioning.
With 81 statements based on the permutations of all nine Domains, the 9DATsm indicates team strengths and weaknesses as no other survey on the market can or does. In short, the 9DATsm measures how close the organization is to achieving a level of maturity and mastery.
The 9DATsm will be introduced at the 9D Facilitator Training in November, 2010. It will be available online shortly both to individuals and trained 9D Facilitators—who will be able to use the 9DAT to appreciate “the full constellation of workplace potential.”
The TEEMsm (Total Employee Engagement Measure)
Measuring Employees’ Enthusiasm for Their Workplace
The TEEMsm is based on the Nine Domains and produces a holistic view of the elements of employee engagement and enthusiasm for working in an organization.
The TEEMsm measures employees’ attitudes across the full spectrum of the Nine Domains, producing a richly textured picture of employees’ involvement in their own work, their attitudes toward the team they work with, and their satisfaction with the organization as a whole.
At 81 statements, this is a unique Engagement Survey that is comprehensive, balanced, and non-redundant. The TEEMsm can also be used as a “cross-check” and method of evaluating and complimenting any other commercially available engagement survey which an organization may be using. The TEEMsm will be introduced at future 9D Facilitator Trainings.
The AL-Qsm (Alignment Quiz)
Finding the Differences Between Stated Values and Actual Behaviors
The Al-Qsm measures the degree to which a group or organization’s actual behaviors match its stated beliefs and official positions & policies-that is, the difference between what is said and what is actually done.
The Al-Qsm is an important indicator of a team or organization’s degree of “group dissonance,” one of the major factors which creates stress and dis-ease in the workplace. The ability to pinpoint sources of stress with accuracy and insight is invaluable.
In 36 statements on a Likert Scale, The Al-Qsm provides a highly insightful yardstick of a group’s evaluation of the organization at any given time. It is thus a valuable adjunct to any kind of employee engagement or satisfaction survey. The Al-Qsm will be introduced at future 9D Facilitator Trainings.
